The Commerce department was started in the year 1970. Right from its inception, the department has earned accolades for enabling students to constantly perform brilliantly at the university examinations. Churning out toppers year after year has been the business of the Commerce and Management studies Department.

The Department aims to strive at

• Preparing the students to qualify for the premier Business Management Schools.
• Inspire students to take up professional courses like CA, ICWA, ACS, etc.
• To develop the college into a full-fledged Business Management School
• To attain a listing in the top 10 Centers of Academic Excellence in the Country

The department laid a strong foundation under eminent and dedicated teachers like Prof. K R Nayak, Prof. R.Rajagopala Sastry, Dr. M K Sridhar, Prof.R. Ravishankar, Prof. A N Ramachandra and Prof. M Ramachandra Gowda.

Vijaya Vaanijya Alumni (VVA) has been helping the department and the college in many developmental activities. A major activity of VVA has been sponsoring the studies of deserving students through financial aid. VVA has also been helping the students in providing add – on courses through its wing CREATIVE (Class RoomEducation Aligned To Industry,Vocation, and Entrepreneurship)

At present, Prof. H N Gururaja Rao is functioning as the Head of the Department.
