The Department of Chemistry was nurtured by several distinguished faculty. Dr. N S Sundara Rajan served the Department and later went on to UNESCO as a member. Later, he served as the President of the BHS Higher Education Society. Many dedicated teachers like Prof. A Satyanarayana Sastry, Prof. Guru Raja Rao, Prof. K Rangarajan, Prof. V Vathsala, Prof. K Ranga Rao, Dr. N Jayappa, Prof. K. V. Subbarao, Prof. A Heramba, Prof. M. G. Nanjunda Swamy, Prof. C S Narayana Swamy, Prof. A. Ramesh Babu, Prof. ShivappaNotagar, Dr. N Manjula, Prof. K V Channakesava and Sri H Varadarajan have contributed to the development of the department.

Prof. N. Jayappa, Prof. A. Ramesh Babu, Prof. ShivappaNotagar, and Dr. N Manjula have also served as Principal of the college. The faculties participate in designing curriculum, as resource persons for student and teacher workshops at High School, PU and degree level.

The department organizes competitions and lectures for students under the banner “AlCHeMoS VIJAYA”.

Presently, Dr.Mahesh Aravind is the Head of Department.
