The statistics department became a full fledged establishment in the year 1988 with the regular appointment of Dr. M R Ramesh and Dr. Nagaraja Rao Chillale.

The department saw proliferation in the student strength in the year 2007 with the introduction of B.Sc. with combination Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science.
