The department, founded in 1986, was initially attached to the Physics Department. However, it became an independent Department in 1992. Faculty and students of electronics department regularly take up projects from the industries, thereby providing a much-needed linkage between education institution and the needs of the industry. There has been a constant flow of knowledge for students and teachers from the experienced faculty of various organizations in the form of seminars and workshops conducted in the department of electronics. The faculty participate in designing curriculum, as resource persons for student and teacher workshops at High School, PU and degree level. The electronics department has added a microprocessor Lab with a view to keep in tune with the advancements of technology and provide state-of-art training to students. The department is planning to introduce career-oriented programs to students of the college. The department is equipped with digital storage CROs and Microcontroller kits to perform advanced experiments.M Presently Prof. R Mallikarjuna Shetty is heading the department.
