The Department of Hindi was established in 1964. Hindi, our National Language is being taught as one of the Languages in B.Sc., B.Com., BCA and BBM courses. Many accomplished teachers have fondly nourished the Hindi Department with their scholarship and dedication. Prof. B Venkata Subbaiah who served the department between 1964 and 1991 laid the foundation of the Hindi Department. He actively involved in popularizing Hindi in South Indian States by participating in organizations like Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachara Sabha and Mysore Hindi Riyasat Samithi. The faculty participate in designing curriculum, as resource persons. Dr. M Surya Prasad served the department of Hindi for a very long period spanning more than two decades. During his tenure as Head, he served in various capacities which include being a columnist and art - critic for leading daily newspapers, member of audition committee of Chandana Doordarshan, Chief - Editor of Gunagrahi - a monthly magazine of fine arts, etc. Presently, Prof. Nagabhushan, is serving as Head of Department of Hindi.
